Languages, content guidelines, and what we don't print

<p>A few things to know about what Moonshine can and can't help with.</p>

<h3>Supported languages</h3>

<p>We currently support three languages for both story text and illustrations:</p>

<ul>

<li><strong>English</strong> (US)</li>

<li><strong>Traditional Chinese (繁體中文)</strong> — for readers in Hong Kong and Taiwan</li>

<li><strong>Simplified Chinese (简体中文)</strong> — for readers in mainland China and Singapore</li>

</ul>

<p>Each book is written in one language end to end. We don't currently support bilingual books (e.g. English + Chinese on the same page), but you can create the same book in two languages as separate books if you want both versions.</p>

<p>More languages are on our roadmap. If you want one in particular, tell us via chat — demand directly influences what we add next.</p>

<h3>Content guidelines</h3>

<p>Moonshine books are made for children. Our content guidelines reflect that.</p>

<p><strong>Books need to be appropriate for the age of the child they're for.</strong> Our templates are designed for ages roughly 2–10 depending on the story. The story text, illustrations, and themes are all reviewed against that.</p>

<p><strong>We can include sensitive but age-appropriate topics</strong> — death of a pet, illness in the family, divorce, hospital stays, moving house, big feelings. Many of our most-loved templates exist specifically to help families navigate these moments.</p>

<p><strong>We can't make books that include:</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Sexual or romantic content involving children, in any form</li>

<li>Graphic violence or gore</li>

<li>Content that demeans a child or anyone they love</li>

<li>Real people the user doesn't have a clear personal connection to (a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, or pet is fine — a celebrity, public figure, or stranger is not)</li>

<li>Hate speech, slurs, or content targeting groups</li>

<li>Anything illegal in the user's or our jurisdiction</li>

</ul>

<p>If a book is flagged during generation for any of these reasons, we'll let you know. The work won't be charged.</p>

<h3>Photos and likeness</h3>

<p>When you upload a reference photo of a child:</p>

<ul>

<li>It's used <strong>only</strong> to help illustrate that specific book</li>

<li>We don't share it, sell it, or use it to train public models</li>

<li>You can delete it from your account at any time</li>

<li>We assume you have the right to use any photo you upload — i.e. the child is yours or you have a parent's/guardian's permission</li>

</ul>

<p>If you're a teacher uploading photos of your students, please get written permission from each student's parent or guardian before doing so. We can't verify this on our end but it's important.</p>

<h3>Other characters in the book</h3>

<p>You can include other characters who matter to the child — a sibling, parent, grandparent, friend, pet. You don't need a photo of them, but you can upload one to help with likeness.</p>

<p>Don't include public figures, celebrities, or strangers as named characters. We may decline to generate or print books that do.</p>

<h3>Copyright</h3>

<p>You own the books you create. Story text and illustrations generated for your book are licensed to you for personal and gift-giving use. You can:</p>

<ul>

<li>Print your book for personal use</li>

<li>Share it digitally with family and friends</li>

<li>Use it in a classroom (if you're a teacher)</li>

</ul>

<ul>

<li>Resell the book commercially without a separate license from us</li>

<li>Republish the illustrations or text outside the book</li>

<li>Use the templates themselves to start a competing product</li>

</ul>

<p>For commercial or institutional use beyond a single classroom, reach out via chat — we'll figure out the right arrangement.</p>

<h3>Reporting a problem with content</h3>

<p>If you see a book, illustration, or template that you think violates these guidelines, email <a href="mailto:support@moonshinestory.com">support@moonshinestory.com</a> with details. We read every report and act on every legitimate one.</p>
